MARCOS, Calif. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown College baseball team lost 8-1 to Arizona Christian on Wednesday in the first round of the A.I.I. Baseball Tournament in San Marcos, California.
The Jimmie offense could not put anything together against Arizona Christian pitcher Alika Pruett, who pitched all nine innings and allowed just four hits and one run while striking out nine Jimmies.
Paul Roers took the loss for the Jimmies, allowing six runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. Arizona Christian jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first inning on a pair of two-out RBI singles.
Jamestown’s only run came on a sixth-inning home run by Mitch Stevens. Nico Moreno had Jamestown other three hits.
Jamestown (31-15-1) continues play in the double-elimination tournament Thursday at 11 a.m. against either Dakota State or Cal State San Marcos.
