(NewsDakota.com) – City administrator Jeff Fuchs says the Jamestown City Council has scheduled a special meeting Wednesday at 4 p.m. to discuss a funding request by the Frontier Village Association.

The Frontier Village Association is seeking funds for its part-time manager position after the requested money was not granted last month by the Buffalo City Tourism Foundation, which is the Village’s main source of funds. The Tourism Foundation did grant the Village the money it requested for other summer staff. The Tourism Foundation is appointed by the City Council to handle distribution of tourism grants.

The Tourism Foundation had issued a vote of “no confidence” in the Village board and its manager Tina Busche back in December, and recently hired a company to conduct a forensic accounting report of the Frontier Village Association. That report revealed a moderate risk of fraud, and the Tourism Foundation alleges more than two dozen non-compliance issues with Frontier Village since 2008.

Frontier Village Association president Charlie Tanata says the Village board is taking actions to address areas of concern revealed in the accounting report. He approached the city’s Legal and Finance Committee last month seeking money to fund the Village’s manager position, prompting Wednesday’s special meeting.
