CITY (NewsDakota.com) Visitor numbers are on the rise and a couple of tourists attractions in Valley City were dedicated during Tourism week on Thursday.

A good crowd attended the dedication in City Park of the Water Fountain.

Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway coordinator Mary Lee Nielson said due to the efforts of Stephanie Mayfield and a generous donation by  a Valley City family the City Park water fountain is up and running once again.

A number of people attended a brief dedication of the water fountain in city park and then walked through the park and over the city park bridge to the outdoor Railroad display at the Rosebud Visitor Center.

Nielson says tourism numbers has been on the rise according to an increase in the local accommodation tax collections.

Two rail carts are part of the display.

She said visitor’s signing in at the Rosebud Visitor Center has averaged over 2,000 a year but the actual number maybe double or triple being not every visitor signs the quest book.
