N.D. (AP) – Fargo set a new high temperature record for May 18th as the mercury shot up to 95 degrees yesterday afternoon. The Forum newspaper reports that Fargo hit the mark in the afternoon, breaking the record set for the date in 1988 by three
degrees. The National Weather Service says there’s a 60 percent chance of rain today.     
       
MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – Mandan police in North Dakota say a Rapid City woman has had part of her leg cut off by a train. BNSF Railway employees called police around 2:30 a.m. yesterday to report a 20-year-old woman in the rail yard. The injured woman’s name has
not been released.
     
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A Fargo woman who accused an off-duty Valley City police officer of using excessive force during a February incident at a bar is now accused of lying. Lesa Jo Black faces a misdemeanor charge of giving false information to law enforcement. She is to make her initial court appearance on Tuesday.
     
HOUSTON (AP) – The number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. is up 12 this week to 1,986. Houston-based oilfield services company Baker Hughes Incorporated reported yesterday that North Dakota added one rig this week.
