DICKINSON  (NewsDakota.com)–Both Valley City and Jamestown golfers fought through gale-force wind during the state “A” golf tournament at Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson.

At the end of the day, all three Hi-Liners have a shot at a top-10 finish.

Nick Jenson shrugged off a rough start with a 38 on the back for an 82, the low round for Valley City’s three qualifiers.

Jenson’s 44 on the front threatened to put him out of contention, but a string of pars brought his tournament back.

“I’m not playing one more hole in this stuff today,” said Jenson after his round.

Jared Lentz fired a 40 on the back to start his day, then managed the conditions as best he could for an 84.

Ben Sorenson was strong and steady, shooting a 42 on the front, a score that was competitive in the sustained 30-miles-per-hour conditions. He backed it up with a 41 for an 83 headed to Wednesday.
