(NewsDakota.com) It had all the markings of a big-time game this early in the season, and it didn’t disappoint Thursday night in Lisbon as Lisbon Post 7 earned a hard fought 4-2 victory in their Section 2 contest against LaMoure Post 19.
Both teams came into the game with 2-0 records against their fellow Section 2 opponents, and Post 19 took the first lead of the game with a run in the third scored by Kenny Hodem. Post 7 answered in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runs driven in by a two out double by Dylan Urbach.
Post 19 came within another run in the fifth as Jared Meiklejohn scored on a wild pitch thrown by Lisbon’s Trent Toso, but Post 7 sealed the deal with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning with a one out single from Tyler Mittleider.
Toso was the winning pitcher going all seven innings, allowing both runs on two hits, five walks and striking out eight batters. Tanner Carlson took the loss for Post 19, lasting four innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits.
The non-section five inning game went the way of Post 19 4-1. LaMoure put up a three spot in the third to split the doubleheader.
Post 19 (2-1 Section 2 7-4 overall) heads up Friday morning for a weekend tournament in Grafton. The next broadcast date is Wednesday June 20 in Carrington. Ryan Cunningham will have the call on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com starting with pre-game at 4:45, and first pitch of game one at 5.
