CITY (NewsDakota.com)–The Valley City Post 60 American Legion baseball team split their home doubleheader Thursday, defeating Great Bend 6-2 in the opener, then dropping a 12-0 loss to Wahpeton.
Post 60 trailed Great Bend 2-1 after four-and-a-half innings, but erupted for five runs in the fifth for the win. Jaden Keys picked up the win on the hill, while Spencer Meyer went 2-3 with a run and three RBI, and also swiped two bags in the contest.
Valley City held Wahpeton in check early, but gave up 11 runs in the fourth and was no-hit in the contest for the 12-0 margin. Chase Carpenter took the loss.
Post 60 plays at Galchutt tonight, then hosts Fairmount-Hankinson Monday.
