N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Volunteers across the Minn-Kota Region of the American Red Cross have responded to six house or apartment fires in the past 16 hours. Two were during the late night hours on Tuesday while four fires have occurred on Wednesday.

The Red Cross is responding to a rural house fire in Mekinock and an eight-unit apartment fire in Mandan. This came after the Red Cross responded to an apartment fire in Fergus Falls, M.N., a semi-trailer fire in Dickinson, a home fire in Adams and an apartment fire in Grand Forks.

In Mandan, all eight units of the apartment building are evacuated at this time. The Red Cross is providing food and clothing to all, and shelter if needed.

Authorities say one person died and a second was seriously injured trying to get back into the burning structure, while a third person was uninjured jumping from the second floor in Fergus Falls.
