(NewsDakota.com) A five run fifth inning gave the Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team a 7-2 victory over Ellendale Post 127 at Cummings Field in Oakes on Thursday night in Section 2 play.

Ellendale had a 2-0 lead to start off going to the bottom of the third inning, where Oakes earned their first run of the game, and then broke it open in the fifth with runs scored from Bryce Meehl, Simon Maddock, Cody Vogeli, Cole Ehrlin and Tanner Zetocha, all with two outs. Oakes added one more in the sixth for good measure.

Maddock was the winning pitcher for Post 36 (3-5 Section 2), going all seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out eight. Donovan Flaherty took the loss for Post 127 (0-5 Section 2), allowing five earned runs on five hits, while striking out seven.
