CITY (NewsDakota.com)–Along with 11 returners from a 20-win team last season, the Valley City State University basketball team will put a star transfer on the floor this November.
Gus Kueber, an Aneta, ND native and former Mayville State University post player, signed with the Vikings Tuesday.
The 6’7″ inside-man led Dakota Prairie to a state runner-up finish in 2009, and led Mayville State in several categories, with 17.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game last year, en route to a first-team All-Dakota Athletic Conference and first-team All-Association of Independent Institutions (AII) selection.

Fans may most vividly remember Kueber’s triple-double performance against Berthold in the quarterfinal game at the state tournament in 2009. He put up a memorable 27 points, 16 rebounds and 11 blocks.
Kueber joins a Viking team that was ranked in the NAIA Division II top 25 basketball poll for seven straight weeks, and became the first American team to win the University of Winnipeg Wesman Classic tournament since 1968.
The Vikings open the first week of November at Northwestern, IA and Dordt, IA.
