CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Devils Lake water is flowing into the Sheyenne River from two outlets running at a combined outflow of 600 cubic feet per second.

Sulfate levels are running higher, fluctuating from 315 to 375 parts per million according to Water Treatment plant supervisor Wade Hesch. He says last year sulfate levels in Valley City were running from 290 to 310 parts per million.

City Commissioner Madaline Luke says the water plant meets all water quality standards thanks to the recent construction upgrade.

Luke is advising residents to be cautious around dams in the city with a higher Sheyenne river level this summer due to Devils Lake outlets.
