(NewsDakota.com) Another season of fixing up roads in and around the community of Oakes is coming to a close.

Oakes Mayor Monty Zimmer says the roads that were dug up around town have all had their first layer of asphalt placed, and those roads will see a topping off in a couple of weeks. Once those roads are finished, that will be all for major road construction in the city for the summer.

Lines recently painted along Main Avenue in Oakes signal the 2012 road construction season in town coming to a close.

At the end of July, the City will begin to open up bids for the next project which consists of some 40 blocks of sewer and water pipes to replace. Zimmer says depending on the weather, that project could start this fall, or in the spring of 2013; with completion of the project in the fall of 2013, marking an end to the last couple years of major construction in the community.
