CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Some restructuring is underway within the Valley City Police Department as Chief Fred Thompson proposed elevating Detective Mark McDonald to the rank of Lieutenant during the city commission meeting on Monday.
The city commission unanimously approved of the rank increase. McDonald will stay at the same pay grade.
McDonald has been with the Valley City police force for nearly 18 years and has been a Detective for 11 years and was the interim police chief for several months during the city hiring process searching for a new chief.
