CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–Valley City State University remains in the NAIA national football poll after a 9-2 season a year ago.

The Vikings are ranked 17th, down two spots from their final ranking of the spring, in the NAIA Preseason poll, issued today.

Valley City State rose as high as 12th a year ago after nine straight wins.  They were beaten badly by Carroll College in the first round of the playoffs, and fell at the end of the year.

No other team from the former Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) received votes.

The Vikings open their season at Morningside, IA in Sioux City on August 30th.
