(NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Public Schools has canceled all classes Thursday out of respect for the family of Jane Aune and to allow staff and students to attend her funeral.

Aune, who passed away Sunday after a battle with cancer, was a guidance counselor at the High School. Her husband Ken is band instructor at Jamestown Middle School.

Jamestown Superintendent Bob Toso says they canceled all school on Thursday to allow as many staff as possible to attend the funeral.


Jane Aune’s funeral is Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Jamestown High School Theater. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel. A prayer service is 5 p.m. Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Church.

The school day will be made up at a later date to be announced.
