(NewsDakota.com) – A battle between first-place teams was just that Friday night: a battle.
In the end, Fargo Shanley was able to deliver the biggest punch: a 90-yard touchdown run by Danny Stasch late in the first half that was the game’s only score as Shanley won a 6-0 defensive battle against the Valley City Hi-Liners.
The Hi-Liners had the ball deep into Shanley territory several times in the game but a few key turnovers and defensive stops by the Deacons kept Valley City off the scoreboard in the 6-0 loss.
The Hi-Liners fall to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in East Region play. Shanley improves to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in East Region play. Shanley remains tied for first place with Grafton, which defeated Wahpeton 22-19 on Friday.
The Hi-Liners will try to bounce back in their final home game of the season, Thursday, Oct. 11 against Central Cass.
