(NewsDakota.com) Carrington played host to a 12 team Volleyball tournament on Saturday, October 6th. The action started at 8a with pool play, then at 1p the tournament started. Games were played at the High School, Armory and the Elementary. North Star took the championship, followed by runner-up Benson County, Carrington took third, Rugby fourth and New Rockford/Sheyenne fifth.
Early on Saturday morning in pool play, Carrington beat Devils Lake JV (25-10, 25-14), Rugby (25-16, 25-18), and Edgeley-Kulm (25-16, 25-18). That put the Cards into the number one spot in their pool, and the number two spot for the afternoon tournament.
In the afternoon tournament, Carrington recieved a first round bye. In the next game at the armory, the Cards beat PBK. Then in the semi-final round, Carrington lost to #3 Benson County, that put the Cards in the third place game against Rugby. Carrington came out on top and defeated Rugby for third place at the Armory.
Carrington improves to 24-6 overall.
Next up for the Cardinals, Rolla/Rock Lake at Rolla on Tuesday, October 9th. The Varsity can be heard on AM 1600 KDAK around 7pm.
