(NewsDakota.com) GBC Titans were in action on Thursday night (Oct. 11th) against Wahpeton for a battle of AA East teams. It was parents night for Barnes County North in Wimbledon, the Huskies came in with a 5-2 record overall. Wahpeton defeated the Titans 42-6. Griggs Barnes County drops to 1-7 overall, and Wahpeton improves to 6-2 overall.
It was all Wahpeton the first three quarters, the Huskies scored first at the 1:36 mark in the first quarter, Senior Wide Receiver Cole Gilles intercepted QB Timmy Erker of the Titans for a 15 yard interception touchdown, the extra point was good making it 7-0. The Huskies scored twice in the second quarter, Junior Running back Brock Lingin took it in from 15 yards out making it 14-0, then QB Alex Lunneborg on the keeper scored making it 21-0 Huskies.
With 9:06 remaining in the third, after a Titans punt, Senior running back Tyler Gripentrog ran it back from 75 yards out for the touchdown making it 28-0 Huskies.
After about four minutes played in the third quarter, Head Coach Davey Zinke of the Titans put in Senior wide receiver Jacoby Kramlich at the quarterback position for some action behind center, the Titans tried to pound their way to the end zone, but wouldn’t score until the fourth quarter.
The Huskies scored two more times in the third quarter, RB Brock Lingin had a 70-yard touchdown reception and a run up the middle from 40 yards out making it 42-0 Huskies. Lingin was the player of the game for the Huskies, with three touchdowns, 90 yards rushing and one touchdown reception for 70 yards.
With 5:45 remaining in the fourth quarter, Junior Running Back Wyatt Steckler of the Titans, faked the reverse and took it in from 25 yards out making it 42-6 Huskies. Steckler was the player of the game for the Titans with 85 yards rushing and one touchdown.
