(NewsDakota.com)- Dickinson State offense did not cross midfield in the first half and didn’t find the red zone until the games final drive. With the Jimmies leading 7-0 in the fourth quarter the Blue Hawks marched down to score with 14.6 seconds left. They opted to go for two rather than force overtime and the gamble paid off as Presley Straub caught a swing pass to lunge into the end zone.

Jamestown College had their best defensive effort of the season, but when it mattered most they were unable to deliver the knockout blow.

There were over 50 minutes of scoreless football played before Lance Johansen broke the ice with a 17-yard touchdown run to put the Jimmies up 7-0.

On the final drive the Jimmies had two huge chances to end the drive. AJ Downs was called for a holding penalty following an ill-advised fourth down pass and JT Petsch couldn’t control an interception through the ground.

The Blue Hawks originally lined up to kick the extra point, but after a Jamestown timeout, they pulled their kicker  to try for the win. Matt Harkless who hit Jimmy Smith for a touchdown on the play prior found his running back in the flat, Presley Straub took it in.

The loss drops Jamestown College to 2-5 on the season. They will be at Valley City St. next Saturday to take on the Vikings.
