(NewsDakota.com)- New Head Coach Justin Wieck didn’t have to wait very long for his first head coaching win. In an early season showdown the Jimmie men’s basketball team welcomed in Brandon University from Manitoba.
The Jimmies grabbed a pair of wins, 76-67 on Friday and 58-54 on Saturday.
Mark Hoge led the way on Friday night dropping in 25 points. The game was tight most of the way before Davon Thomas went on a bit of a run that extended Jamestown’s lead with a trio of three pointers late in the second half.
On Saturday, the two teams matched up again for the second time in less than 24 hours. The second match-up turned into a defensive, grind it out battle with the Jimmies prevailing. Hoge and Jared Sutherland were the leading scores with 12 a piece for JC.
The Jimmies improve to 2-0 on the season. They will be off until November 2nd when they travel south to take on Dordt College, they will also play Northwestern College during that road trip. Those two teams are 2012 NAIA National Tournament teams and arguably the two best teams on the schedule for Coach Wieck and Jamestown College.
