N.D. (NewsDakota.com) An 87-year-old rural Litchville man died in a tractor fire Saturday in Barnes County.

Sheriff Randy McClaflin says the man was burning a dry slough during a controlled burn when the fire got out of control and started to burn the tractor he was driving.

Authorities say, Wesley Ten Pas was air lifted to a Fargo Hospital and then to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis where he died.

Funeral arrangements for Ten Pas are pending with the Oliver Nathan Funeral Home in Valley City.
