(NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals Volleyball team hosted the North Star Bearcats last night (Oct. 15th) in Regional action. The Bearcats came in as the number one seed in District 8 at 25-4. The Cards defeated the Bearcats 3-2 (25-21, 25-27, 25-13, 18-25, 18-16). Carrington improves to 25-7 overall, North Star drops to 26-4 overall.
The Cardinals were led by Nikki Braaten with four serving aces, followed by Breanna Barton with three. Josey Page had 30 setting assists and Nikki Braaten had 21. Stuff blocks were led by Nikki Braaten with four, Madison Wendel had three.
In defensive saves (Digs), Jacey Engelhorn had nine. Madison Wendel had 20 kills, followed by Kayla Hochhalter with 16.
North Star was led by Jessica Teubner with 15 kills and 7 blocks. Sarah Hagler had 20 kills, 2 aces, 11 blocks and 2 assists for the Bearcats. Allie Heisler and Hannah Alto had 17 assists apiece.
Next up for Carrington is Parents Night, Monday, October 22nd against PBK. The Varsity will be heard on AM 1600 KDAK around 7pm. That is the last regular season game, the District 7 Tournament runs Thursday-Monday, October 25th, 26th and the 29th in New Rockford.
