CITY (NewsDakota.com) – When the Valley City High School football team takes the field Tuesday night in Grafton, there will be no pressure to qualify for the playoffs. Last Thursday’s 40-14 victory over Central Cass took care of that, clinching a spot for the Hi-Liners in the playoffs.

In fact, all four playoff spots from the East Region have been clinched by Fargo Shanley, Grafton, Wahpeton and Valley City.

On Tuesday, they’ll all be playing for seeding. The Hi-Liners could be No. 2, No. 3 or No. 4 in the East Region standings following Tuesday’s regular season finale in Grafton.

Assuming no major upsets in other East Region games Tuesday, a win by 10 or more points would secure Valley City the No. 2 seed. A win by 1 to 9 points would give Valley City the No. 3 seed, and a loss would put Valley City as the No. 4 seed for the playoffs.

A win by the Hi-Liners would likely bring up a three-way tie for second place in the region between Valley City, Wahpeton and Grafton, which would go to a points tiebreaker.

In other East Region games Tuesday, Fargo Shanley plays Griggs-Barnes County, Wahpeton plays Lisbon, and Kindred plays Central Cass.

Tuesday’s Hi-Liner game will be broadcast on TED 98.3/102.7 FM. Kickoff at 7 p.m. with pregame starting about 6:30 p.m.
