CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) As card board prices go south the owners of Valley Recycling are worried that future operating expenses may cause the business to fail.
Marcia Faul told the city commission she’s open to suggestions including the idea of raising city fees to help offset higher operating cost when prices are low.
Jan Reid of Nearly Nu says she’s willing to work to keep the recycling service operating in the community.
But Mayor Bob Werkhoven said raising city garbage, water or utility fees isn’t a good option and more discussion will be need to see what will work.
Werkhoven told the owners that the city already subsidizes 1/3 of the operating cost of the business.
City commissioner’s Pederson, Magnuson and Luke said the recycling business is important to Valley City and they are open to exploring the best possible option to keep the business afloat.
