(NewsDakota.com) – Barnes County North’s Tess Scott took third place, and Valley City’s April Berntson took 15th to lead local runners at the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday in Dickinson.

Light snow and 30-degree temps made conditions less than ideal on Saturday, but runners fought through it. Scott finished just 5 seconds off the lead in the girls Class B race, earning All State honors with her third-place finish. New Town won the Class B boys title. Hillsboro-Central Valley won Class B girls.

In Class A, Berntson ran strong to take 15th place and earn All State honors for the second time in her career. Valley City’s girls took 14th place overall. Bismarck High won both the boys and girls titles in Class A.
