(NewsDakota.com)- The No. 11 Jimmes opened up their season on Friday night at the Civic Center, in the first of two during the Jimmie Classic, and knocked off Brandon University (Manitoba) 74-49. Then on Saturday they turned around and beat Winnipeg 79-59.

Amber Ramlo, on her way to a selection as the AII Player of the Week, scored 10 points, grabbed 19 rebounds and blocked four shots against Brandon. The following night the Jamestown native secured another 14 rebounds for at two-day total of 33.

Hannah Steele and Bridget Schuneman lead the Jimmies with 21 points a piece in the game against Winnipeg.

The Jimmies coming off a school-record 27 wins, start the new season on the right foot with a pair of dominating wins.

The first broadcast of Jimmie basketball will be Friday night from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. Tip-off of the women’s game is slated for 5:30pm and the men will follow. You can catch the action on KQDJ-1400 AM and online at NewsDakota.com
