CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Colby Lum caught two long touchdown passes and Valley City State’s defense recorded its second shutout of the season as the Vikings went on the road to defeat Lindenwood-Belleville (Illinois), 27-0 on Saturday.
Lum caught touchdown passes of 54 yards and 42 yards from Tommy Zinke as the Vikings built a 20-0 lead early in the third quarter. Derek Elliot then added a four-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Valley City State’s defense held Lindenwood to just 188 yards of total offense, and only 71 of those came on the ground. Garrett Jackson led the Viking defense with eight tackles.
On offense, Lum had two catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Zinke was 9-for-16 for 169 yards and those two TDs to Lum. Elliott had 83 rushing yards and a touchdown, and Taylor Cino had 76 rushing yards in the victory.
Valley City State improves to 6-3. They wrap up the season Saturday, Nov. 3, with 1 p.m. home game against Robert Morris at Shelly Ellig Field and Lokken Stadium.
