(JC Sports Information)- Jamestown College head men’s basketball coach Justin Wieck announced three new signings to the Jimmie program. All will join the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013. Wieck announced the signing of DeShawn Jones, Jade Kampfe, and Coltin Huus.
Jones is a 6’6” senior forward from Richfield, MN. In his junior season at Richfield High School, Jones averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds per game. Early in his 2012-13 senior season, Jones is averaging 18.5 points and 9 rebounds per game. Jones was recently ranked as the 32nd best player in the state of Minnesota by NorthStar Hoops Report. The high flying, athletic forward is looking forward to his senior season while looking towards his future at Jamestown College.
“I signed with Jamestown College to help further my education and to help the Jimmies win championships,” Jones said. “I see a lot of great things happening in the future of Jimmie Basketball and I can’t wait to start my career at Jamestown. Go Jimmies!”
Kampfe is a 6’7 senior forward from Gillette, WY. In his junior season at Campbell County High School, Kampfe helped lead his team to a 4A state runner-up finish. Early in his senior season, Kampfe is just getting back onto the court following a knee injury in the summer. Expectations are high for Kampfe and Campbell County High School as he heads into the 2012-13 senior season. The strong and skilled post player is looking forward to his future at Jamestown College.
“I signed with Jamestown College because I knew I would be receiving a great education,” Kampfe said. “I will be surrounding myself with outstanding coaches and hard working teammates and I can’t wait to join the Jimmie family!”
Huus is a 6’4 senior forward from Enderlin, ND. In his junior season at Enderlin High School, Huus earned 1st Team All-Maple River Conference honors while also earning Co-MVP honors. Huus averaged 12.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Eagles. Coltin was a Jamestown Wilson Scholarship finalist and was awarded the prestigious Mel Arnold academic award. Huus is excited to begin his career at Jamestown.
“I decided to sign with Jamestown because of the great reviews,” Huus said. “I have heard great things from students at Jamestown and I really enjoyed my visit to campus. I can’t wait to receive a great education and to be a part of the Jimmie Basketball program.”
“We are excited that DeShawn, Jade and Coltin have decided to join the Jimmie family!” coach Justin Wieck said. “DeShawn brings great size, athleticism, and skill to our program and will be a contributor to our program from day one. He has shown that he is physically ready for the college game and we expect big things out of him in his career at Jamestown. Jade brings needed size and athleticism to the post for us. He plays for a tremendous high school program in Wyoming, so we know he will be coached and be ready for college basketball. As he gets healthier throughout the season, we look forward to big things from him and his team. Coltin is a local player that we’re excited to have join our program. He brings size and skill to the wing position, something that we are focusing on in this recruiting class. He also brings in a great academic profile and I know he will be a great fit for our program here at Jamestown. We’re happy that these three have chosen to Jamestown College to further their collegiate experience!”
