LAKE (NewsDakota.com) Day three of the Lake Region Invitational Girls Basketball Tournament at the Devils Lake Sports Center was filled with four great games. The Carrington Cardinals took down District seven foe Lakota/Adams-Edmore 51-40 for the Championship. Carrington’s Junior Forward Kayla Hochhalter made the All-Tournament team and was also awarded the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. The Cards improve to 4-2 overall, the Raiders drop to 5-2. Here are the results of the last day of the Tourney.
7th place – Four Winds/Minnewaukan 50 Dakota Prairie 35
5th place – Drayton/Valley/Edinburg 53 Munich/Starkweather 48
3rd place – North Star 53 Devils Lake JV 39
Championship – Carrington 51 Lakota/Adams-Edmore 40
Number three seeded Carrington Cardinals defeated number one seed Lakota/Adams-Edmore in the championship game Saturday night in Devils Lake. The Cards had two players in double figures, Kayla Hochhalter with 12 and Senior Center Breana Barton with 10 points. Hochhalter averaged about 14 points per game for the three day tourney. The Raiders were led by Sophomore Forward Fallyn Freije with 22 points, Freije scored her 1,000 point on Thursday night, the first day of the tournament.

The next game for the Carrington girls is on Tuesday, January 8th against District seven opponent New Rockford/Sheyenne in Carrington. UPDATE: Coverage will begin around 7:15p on AM 1600 KDAK for the Varsity game.
UPDATE: The next boys basketball broadcast for AM 1600 KDAK will be #7 Carrington at Lamoure on Thursday, January 10th starting around 6:30pm pregame. This game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 8th.
