Gudrun Ronholm 92, Valley City, North Dakota went peacefully to rest in the arms of her Lord and be with her 3 day old twin brother, Sigurd. The funeral service will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City, with Rev. Emmy Issackson officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Ostervold Cemetery, rural Finley, North Dakota. She died Wednesday, January 23, at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Visitation will be 4 – 7 pm Monday, at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City and will continue one hour before the service at the church.
Gudrun (Jacobson) Ronholm was born November 9, 1920, the daughter of John and Helena (Hansen) Jacobson at the farm home, Daglum community, South Heart, North Dakota, in Stark County. She attended the country, Simpson township school, graduating from Model High at Dickinson, North Dakota and took business courses in New England, North Dakota. She was a bookkeeper at the Farmers Union Oil and Citizens State Bank in New England for three years. During World War II, she spent three years working in the shipyards at Portland, Oregon. She was united in marriage to Alph Ronholm on September 26, 1945, in Finley. They farmed near there until retiring to Valley City.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and a life member of Sons of Norway.
Gudrun leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, a son, Dennis (Connie) Ronholm; a daughter, Debbie White (Kerry Anderson); five grandchildren, Dorinda (Johnson) Lundy, Lance Johnson, Carrisa Meyer, Jory White and Kim LaPlant; four great grandchildren, Samantha Lundy, Land Kunkel, Brooklyn James Johnson and Jerzie Johnson; two nieces Shirley Rains, Georgia and Marie Lantz, South Heart, North Dakota; a nephew, Gary (Kathy) Carlson, Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Henry and her twin, Sigurd, two sisters, Jurdis Carlson and Huldis Geary; and her daughter, Darlene Johnson.
