LAKE (NewsDakota.com) There were no upsets during the first day of the boys Region Four Basketball Tourney, all top seeds are moving on and playing tonight at the Devils Lake Sports Center. The bottom seeds are done for the season.
#1 North Star 69 #4 New Rockford/Sheyenne 39
Seth Gilles of New Rockford/Sheyenne had two 3-pointers in the first quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Bearcats of North Star beat the Rockets yesterday in the opening game of the Tourney. Sr. Josh Edmonson led the way for the Rockets with 10 points, followed by Sophomore Seth Gillis with nine. Jr. Ethan Haley went out with a left shoulder injury.
The Bearcats were led by Sr. Jacob Hagler with 18 followed by Sr. Daniel Grande with 14.
#2 Carrington 58 #3 Munich/Starkweather 38
The Cardinals improve to 19-4 overall as they beat Munich/Starkweather yesterday in the second game of the day. Sr. Austin Johnson led all scorers with 16, Sr. Scott Burnham added 13. The Cards had 22 field goals, four 3-pointers and shot 8/13 from the free throw line.
