Anna Luella Holden, the daughter of Anton and Olina (Evenson) Holden, was born July 16, 1917 on the family farm near Eckelson, ND. Her motto for living a good life was given to her on the day of her confirmation by Reverend I.O. Jacobson, “Luella, don’t be anywhere that if God should come calling for you that you wished you weren’t there.” So she never went into a bar, and never regretted it. The only wine she ever had was communion wine. Luella married Edward B. Campbell on January 19, 1945 in Sanborn, ND. They farmed and ranched in the Eckelson, ND area until their retirement in 1979 when they moved into Valley City. Mr. Campbell died on December 14, 1987.
Luella is survived by her two sons, Robert (Katherine) Campbell, Big Stone City, SD and David Campbell, Fargo, ND; one granddaughter, Andrea (Larry) Weatherly, Columbia Heights, MN and one grandson, Jason (Claire) Campbell, Duluth, MN; two great-grandchildren, Isaac Weatherly and Amara Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews.
Luella was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Clara and seven brothers, Einar, Alfred, Oscar, Melvin, Palmer, Joseph and Edwin Holden.
