LAKE (NewsDakota.com)  Last night at the Devils Lake Sports Center, both #2 North Star and #5 Four Winds/Minnewaukan win and will move on and play for a chance to go to the State Tournament in Minot, March 7th-9th.  

North Star 59  Carrington 37

The North Star Bearcats scored 18 points in the third quarter and pulled ahead of the Cardinals 44-17 at the end of three quarters of play.  Alex Weston of North Star had a game high 18 points.  Sr. Alex Nelson scored nine points, Sr. Austin Johnson and Sr. Taylor Skytland scored eight points each to lead the Cardinals. 

The Bearcats out rebounded the Cards 33-20.  Carrington shot 13/41 from the field for 32%, 6/17 for 35% from 3-point land and 5/6 for 83% from the charity stripe.  The Cards had 14 turnovers compared to the Bearcats nine.  North Star was 22/55 from the field for 44%.

GAMES ON TAP FOR TOMORROW, FEBRUARY 28TH:

6pm – 3rd Place:  D7 No.2 Carrington (19-5) vs. D8 No. 2 St. John (18-6)

20 min after – Championship:  D7 No. 1 Four Winds/Minnewaukan (No. 5 in the state, 21-2) vs. D8 No. 1 North Star (No. 2 in the state, 22-1)

The winner of the championship game will play the Region Six winner either Rugby or Westhope/Newburg in the last game on day one (March 7th) of the State Tourney in Minot.
