(NewsDakota.com) For the second year in a row, the Oakes High School girls basketball team lost in a regional qualifying game in the District 1 Girls Tournament to end their season, this time falling to the North Sargent Bobcats on Monday afternoon 53-43.

The third seeded Tornadoes, who were attempting to advance to the Region I tournament next week in Fargo, traded shots with the fifth seeded Bobcats in the first half, and even early into the third quarter. However, for the second game in a row, the Tornadoes had a rough go of things in most of the second half, allowing the Bobcats to pull away towards the end and send them to Fargo next week.

Nicole Warren ended her high school career in a Tornado uniform with 13 points. Oakes’ other senior, Karlie Knutson had four points. The Bobcats had 17 points from Chelesy Anderson, and another 15 from Lakyn Sandness.

Oakes ends the year with a 12-9 record, North Sargent goes to the Region I Tournament with a 8-14 mark.
