N.D. (NewsDakota.com) U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp kicked off a series of discussions Tuesday in Dickinson focused on finding solutions to the state’s housing crisis. Heitkamp will hold similar events in Bismarck, Minot, Williston, Valley City, and Fargo during the current Congressional District Work Period.
Heitkamp will be in Valley City for a Housing input discussion on April 4 at 10am in the Regional Technology Center on Winter Show Road in Valley City.
Heitkamp is a member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Development Committee, which has jurisdiction over housing issues. Heitkamp will use her position on the committee to advocate for the unique housing needs in rural areas like North Dakota.
She said, “We all know there is a housing crunch in our state, but I am focused on what steps are needed to alleviate the stress, and plan for the future.”
Heitkamp, said, “Because of my committee assignments and commitment to this issue, I am in a unique position to address rural housing. I will continue to work closely with local leaders on solutions for North Dakota housing.”
Heitkamp was joined by U.S. Senator John Hoeven, “With North Dakota’s growing population, housing needs are a real priority,” Hoeven said. “We need to work together in a local, state and federal partnership not only to develop more housing, but also to make sure it’s affordable for North Dakotans.”
