(NewsDakota.com) The City of Oakes has released its annual Drinking Water Quality Report and once again, the city has received very high marks.

The test results show the City had no violations in any of the categories; Inorganic Contaminates, Synthetic Organic Contaminates, Radioactive contaminates, Unregulated/Microbiological Contaminates and Disinfectants.

The Environmental Protection Agency requires monitoring of over 80 contaminates, and the largest amount of inorganic contaminate found was lead at 2.34 parts per billion; mostly due to corrosion of household plumbing systems.

A part per billion is equivalent to a single penny in $10 million or one minute in 2,000 years.
