CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Grand Forks National Weather Service says there’s a 50 percent chance the Sheyenne River will reach about 16.9 feet in Valley City. Meteorologist Mark Frazier said the Sheyenne has a 50 percent chance of reaching 18.2 in Lisbon.

With that news Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven said the city will officially request a declaration of emergency with the U-S Army Corps of Engineers Friday and hold a special meeting Monday morning to determine what action to take to protect the city.

Meanwhile, Bismarck National Weather Service Hydrologist Allen Schlag said no significant flooding is in the forecast for cities along the James River Valley.

In Fargo officials are preparing for a possible record flood between 39 to 41 feet following the latest information released by the National Weather Service on Wednesday. In 2009 the flood of record was 40.84 feet in Fargo.
