CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A Valley City proposal to keep the 9-1-1 dispatch center in the city owned law enforcement center was handed to Barnes County commissioners earlier this week. Under the plan, the city would pay for remodeling expenses and lease the space for a-dollar a year according to Valley City commissioner Duane Magnuson.
It appears the offer will be declined. Barnes County Commissioner Rodger Berntson favors moving the dispatch center citing the threat of future flooding.
The Barnes County commission will discuss a proposal to relocate the Public Service Answering Point system at their May 7 meeting.
The Barnes County Sheriff’s office relocated to a building just west of the Wagon Wheel Inn in mid-April.
