CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City State men’s basketball team has added LaMoure native Skylar Shockman to its list of signed recruits for the 2013-14 season.
Head coach Jeff Kaminsky said Monday in a media release that Shockman has signed a Letter of Intent to attend VCSU and play for the Vikings starting this fall.
Shockman, a 6-foot-7 forward, graduated from LaMoure High School in 2012 and currently attends Minnesota State University Moorhead. He averaged eight points and five rebounds per game during his senior season in 2012 at LaMoure High School. LaMoure started that season 22-0 before losing in the Region 3 semifinals.
“Skylar has a unique combination of size, strength, and athleticism that will make him a valuable addition to our front court,” said Kaminsky. “He also has a passion for the game and the weight room which will result in continued improvement. Both on and off the court, Skylar will be a great addition to Viking Basketball.”
Shockman is the second LaMoure native to sign with VCSU this spring. Tyler Thielges, also a 2012 graduate of LaMoure, plans to play basketball for the Vikings starting this fall. He is transferring in from South Dakota State University.
