Betty Jean McMillen was born on November 21, 1946 in Wyoming, one of eight children born to George and Lola (Randall) McMillen. She was a graduate of Greybull, Wyoming high school.

     On May 21, 1968, she married Steve Starr. They made their home in Greybull and raised their family.

     Betty was a member of the Baptist Church. She loved crafting. Betty made blankets for all of her grandchildren using an old treadle machine. They all appreciate the time she made to hand make all of the many crafts and gifts she did for her family.

     Betty died at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND on May 9, 2013. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Kraig) Kumlin of Valley City and Stephanie Starr of Mandan, ND; 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Mark) McMillen, Ray McMillen, and Lewis (Louise) McMillen all of Basin, WY; sisters, Julia (Dan) Volz and Rose (Gary Spomer) Parent both of Cheyenne, WY; and several nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Kayla Starr; sister, Louise Day; and brother, Roy McMillen.

     The funeral service for Betty Jean Starr, 66, Valley City, ND, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. Burial will be at the ND Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND at 3:00, Thursday. Rev. James Black will officiate.

     Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the chapel on Thursday.
