N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The City Council held their first reading of a new ordinance to create and enact a new Chapter of the City Code pertaining to the regulation of sexually oriented businesses like adult cabarets and escort services.

The code would require any adult entertainment business be a minimum of 1250 feet from churches or schools and a similar distance from any licensed alcoholic beverage establishments.

City Administrator Jeff Fuchs is supportive of this new ordinance, “I’m very supportive of it and I’m happy to see the council proactive to adopt an ordinance before the business is considered.”

When asked if he believes Jamestown will have any businesses like this in the future, Jeff stated, “I don’t anticipate it anytime soon and in my opinion, there will be no interest.”

This is the first time an ordinance has been created for this business in Jamestown. For more information on this ordinance, you can pick up a copy from the City Hall in Jamestown.
