(NewsDakota.com) There is new face on the Oakes School Board.
In an election held on Tuesday, Karla Hoelscher defeated incumbent John Bakke for the seat on the board which represents the City of Oakes.
Of the 163 votes that were cast, Hoelscher received an overwhelming majority with 135, or 83 percent of the vote. Bakke earned just 28 votes, or 17 percent of the vote.
The Oakes School Board certified the results of the election at a special meeting on Tuesday night.
