N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Over 400 members of the North Dakota American Legion, its Auxiliary, and the Sons of The American Legion will gather in Williston, ND for the 95th Annual Department Convention beginning Friday, June 28th, with activities taking place at the Williston Airport International Inn.

The Representatives from the 215 American Legion Posts across the state will be on hand as the Legionnaires, Sons of The American Legion, and Auxiliary members conduct the official business of the state’s largest veterans’ organization. Convention registration will begin at 10:00am on Friday at the Airport International Inn, which will serve as the Convention Headquarters Hotel.

A Joint Opening Session will begin at 7:30pm Friday. Department Commander Dave Rice, Harwood, ND and Auxiliary President Linda Juntunen, Rolla, ND will host a banquet Saturday evening with National Commander James E. Koutz as the banquet speaker. The banquet will be followed by a dance with music by the American Legion State Band musicians.

Sunday morning activities will begin with the Joint Memorial Service. Immediately following the service the Convention will honor several youth champions from the past year.

The business sessions will conclude Sunday with the election and installation of the new 2013-2014 officers for Department Commander and Department Commander-Elect as the highlight.

Eugene Kachena of Pisek, ND is seeking the position of ND Department Commander, while Dale Roth of the Elgin, ND and Don Weible of Wilton, ND both are seeking the 2013-2014 Department Commander-Elect position.
