(NewsDaktota.com)- Shaun Hogan’s fourth-inning bases clearing double broke a scoreless tie and it was all Brian Wenzel needed to finish off Grand Forks last night. Jamestown came away victorious 3-2 in game one before dropping game two 8-4.
Wenzel and Zach Mahoney traded zeros for the first three innings, before Post 14 finally broke through. Ben Walz lead off the inning with an infield single, but was later caught too far off second base. After Walz reached Mahoney walked the next three batters.
Tyler Ukestad struck out right before Hogan delivered the games biggest hit.
Post 14 gave two runs back in the sixth inning, but Wenzel held his ground in the seventh making quick work of the Royals.
In game two, Jamestown held a 2-1 lead before Grand Forks struck for seven runs in the sixth inning. Joey Gebhardt took the loss giving up six of the eight Royals runs.
Jamestown will head to West Fargo for a makeup date to play a non-conference doubleheader. Tomorrow a exhibition with Team Saskatchewan will be played at 11am at Jack Brown.
They finish they week with a visit from the Moorhead Blues on Friday.
Our next broadcast will be July 16th when Jimmie standout Andy Young and his West Fargo Patriots come to Jamestown for a pair of conference games.
