The funeral service for Katherine G. Kingston, 88, of Lisbon, ND will be held Monday, August 19 at 7 PM at the ND Veteran’s Home in Lisbon with Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will take place at Memory Gardens in Valley City.
Katherine Swick was born November 9, 1924 in rural Baldwin, ND to Robert N. and Ernestine (Lutjens) Swick. She attended school in Baldwin and Hope before graduating from Pillsbury High School in 1942. Katherine was joined in marriage to Maurice Kingston on September 26, 1943 in Pillsbury, ND. Maurice and Katherine farmed near Pillsbury and also owned and operated a Standard Oil Bulk Dealership where she was the bookkeeper. They moved to Fargo in 1965 where she worked in the pharmacy department of Sanford. In 1967 they moved to Minot where she worked at Dakota Pharmacy in veterinary supply. After Maurice’s death in 1970 she moved to Pillsbury. Katherine later married Stanley Kingston on August 25, 1971 in Valley City; they farmed near Pillsbury. She worked part-time at Judy’s Travel Service in Valley City and also had been a caregiver to her mother-in-law and her husband. Stanley died in 2005 at the ND Veterans Home in Lisbon, and Katherine moved there in 2011.
Katherine is survived by her daughter, Judy (Gary) Ross, Lisbon, ND; grandchildren, Maurice Kingston, Hope, ND, Monica (Shapour) Kingston Roohi of Phoenix, AZ, Michael (Heidi) Kingston of Hope, ND, Roxanne (Steve) Pederson of West Fargo, ND, Rachel (Danny) Peltier Jr. of Valley City, ND, and Ryan Ross of Valley City; great-grandchildren, Serina Kingston Roohi, Phoenix, and Alex Kingston of Hope; step-great-grandchildren, Ashley Falstad, Trevor Pederson, Chase and Kolby Ross; and a daughter-in-law, Lori Kingston of Hope, ND.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley, and a son, Thomas.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Armstrong Funeral Home of Lisbon.
