(NewsDakota.com)- In the first West Region contest of the 2013 season, the Jamestown High volleyball team picked up a straight-sets win over St. Mary’s Tuesday night in Bismarck.

Addie Eamon lead the Jays with 10 kills, followed by Rainey Selvig’s nine. Jamestown took the first set 25-17 behind a string of Saints errors. In the second set, Julina Niemeier rattled off 10 straight points from the service line including two aces to turn a 1-0 deficit into an 11-1 lead.

The Jays didn’t get off the a good start in set three, but were able to flex their muscles down the stretch and put away the Saints 25-18. The Saints picked up six of the first seven points before a Jays timeout swung the momentum.

Jamestown had four service errors in set three.

Josie Hegerle had 31 assists for Jamestown.

Jamestown will play at Williston on Friday and host their first game on Tuesday when Century visits Jerry Meyer Arena. The Century game will be on the radio, 1400 KQDJ and NewsDakota.com.
