CITY, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com) The rivalry between University of Jamestown and Valley City State continued on the volleyball court last night. The two teams faced off at Graichen Gym in the first North Star Athletic Association game for both sides.

It was a tough night for the home team who took the lead early in game one only to watch the Jimmies eliminate the deficit and take the victory with a 25-21 final. In game two, it was a similar story, the Vikings lead by as much as six points before the Jimmies fought back tying the game at 17 apiece. Neither team was willing to bend sending the game to extra points, but in the end it was the Jimmies again who stood tall with a 29-27 win over the Vikings.  In the third game, the University of Jamestown jumped out to the lead and never looked back finishing the match with a 25-19 win.

Valley City’s Aurissa Martens lead both teams offensively with 11 kills. The Jimmies offense was helped out by strong play at the net from Sarah Becker and Alex Hanson, both players tallied 10 kills on the night.

The Vikings next test comes on September 13th at the Peru State Tournament in Nebraska. The Jimmies hit the road for another NSAA match up with Mayville State on September the 18th.
