(NewsDakota.com) In the first home game of the season for Griggs Barnes County, the Titans come up short 19-14. GBC falls to 1-3 overall, 1-1 in the Class 2A West Region, the Wolves improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Class 2A West Region.
Both teams were held scoreless in the first quarter, but in the second quarter, Watford City would score three touchdowns to take a commanding 19-0 lead going into halftime. Junior running back Dalton Wright would have two of the three touchdowns for the Wolves, one touchdown was from 10 yards and the other from 26 yards out.
The Titans would come out in the second half strong as Wyatt Steckler would rush from 30 yards out and get a touchdown with 9:19 left on the clock in the third quarter. Then Derek Eberle would score form three yards out to make the score 19-14 going into the fourth quarter.
The Wolves defense has only allowed nine points per game so far this season, and they would somewhat hold true to that as GBC threatened a couple of times but could not get into the end zone in the fourth quarter.
Wright was the player of the game for Watford City, he rushed for two touchdowns and carried the ball 14 times for 118 yards.
Justin Hanson was the player of the game for GBC on defense, and Derek Eberle was the player of the game on offense with one touchdown.
