CITY, N.D.(NewsDakota.com) It was a beautiful Saturday night at Shelly Ellig Field, as Valley City claimed their third win of the season  with a 66-6 victory over Trinity Bible College. 

For the second week in a row, the Vikings wasted no time getting the offense started. On the first play from the line of scrimmage Kurtis Walls found Cedric Chappell on a 35 yard pass. That would set up a 12 yard Derek Elliot touchdown run. The Valley City native would score again later in the first quarter, before Walls and Chappell would hook up for the first passing touchdown of the day.

The Lions only threat of the game came in the second quarter when their quarterback, Braden Phillips dove into the end zone on an eight yard run bringing Trinity Bible College to within 15 points. On the ensuing kickoff,  a miscue by Marcelluz Smith would lead to the Lions retrieving the ball on the Vikings 25 yard line. On the Lions drive, The VCSU defense would stand strong forcing a turnover on fourth down after a missed pass by Phillips to Justin Smith.

That was the last time the Lions would threaten to score in the game. The Vikings defensive line was in the back field all day, sacking Lions quarterbacks a total of six times.  True Freshmen, Isaiah Osorio, lead the team, tallying two and half sacks on the day.  Dwannye Fearon would add one and half to his total giving him a team leading four and a half on the season.

In the second half the Vikings would score five more times. Elliot finished the day with 193 rushing yards on 21 attempts. The Vikings Quarterback had a strong night also, as Walls passed for 165 yards and a touchdown.  Chappell led the receiving core with five catches for one touchdown and 105 total yards.

The Vikings are idle next week, but return home on October 5^th, for an afternoon game with Presentation College.
