N.D. (NewsDakota.com) An 18-year-old Courtney, North Dakota man faces charges after he struck a power pole and fled the scene.

Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin says the crash caused a complete power outage for the city of Wimbledon shortly after the crash was reported on Saturday about 4:30am.

McClaflin says the vehicle was located and impounded northeast of Wimbledon. The driver was charged with Failure to give Immediate notice of an accident and Care Required.

Damage to the power poles and equipment is estimated at $8,000. The accident remains under investigation with the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office.
